"Hold it! I think you're going to like this picture!"
That was the famous television line from The Bob Cummings Show of the late 1950s. He said that to the audience at the beginning of every show and then flashed the camera at them. I liked watching that comedy show when I was a kid. Bob Cummings' profession was, of course, photographer. In the 1950s, he would have known all about weddings but he would have known nothing about web design. Therefore I count a double blessing in this, my time. I live in the small village of Vineland in Southern Ontario where everything is within walking distance. With me, that means the library and the grocery, hardware and drug stores. By the way, that roguish mirror image of me is from about...oh, 20 years ago! I just don't have any other images of me at hand! It's true, photographers don't like to have their own pictures taken, they just like to take pictures. I live in the middle of orchard and grape country within the Niagara Region, so there is plenty of picture taking opportunity in Spring and in Autumn. The countryside abounds with natural scenery like the Bruce Trail and Niagara Falls. Generally, I'm blessed with photographic opportunity...and I know it. I am also blessed with something else that Bob Cummings did not have in the 1950s...and that is the computer! This technology has given me a medium in which I can show off my pictures and to digitally alter my pictures with programs like Adobe Photoshop and to develop my own website. |

Web Design BackgroundIn 2000, I took myself back to College, specifically Sheridan College in Oakville, to acquire my Diploma in Corporate Communications (Public Relations). I graduated with Honours but found that jobs were only available closer to the Toronto area. However, that re-education opened the doors for me to the wonderful (and infernal world) of the computer. Since then, I kept myself busy as a supply teacher and wedding photographer within the Niagara area. In 2002, I enrolled myself into Mohawk College as a night-school student in computer courses. Mohawk College is located in Hamilton, Ontario, (which is thank goodness closer to home). My Webmaster's Certificate now hangs on the wall in my study dated December 31, 2007. In fact, I've proved time and time again, that you are never too old to learn new things. Maybe that's why the camera and I get along so well together and have been friends for years. |
